Taylor Swift is always filled with a surprise. First she released a country album, then a pop album, moved to electronic pop and now? She surprised fans with a Folk album. Without warning, she dropped a 16 track album in just 24 hours notice. If you like sappy tracks sung by a superstar then this could be for you. The album got raving reviews from journalists that digested 16 introspective melancholic folk songs within 24 hours (to be fair, a private link to the songs was sent out a week ago).
The album is produced by the National’s Aaron Dessner along with Jack Antonoff. To give it that indie credibility, Swift got Bon Iver to sing on the track ‘exile’. Now we’re talking. She even grabbed the title “Mirrorball” for one her tracks from either folk rock artist Neil Young or Sarah McLachlan.
It won’t be the last surprise from Taylor. Now with touring off the table for 1 to 2 years anything is possible. More writing, more time to think, and more time to release albums. Did I hear Justin Bieber is already started writing for his next album? I think I did….
Morbid In The Morning is a really good track from Australian artist Benfield. You’ll love it especially if you like Bon Iver and The National. He released his debut EP in late 2018. Give it a stream.
A word to the wise. Stop looking at TikTok as a platform to grow an audience. As more nations look at the Chinese owned app as a security threat, the future of the app looks bleak. While India has already banned TikTok, the U.S. is in discussions to ban the app. Australia labor party has criticized the app and TikTok just exited the Hong Kong market. Why did China bail from Hong Kong? Because a new law would compel TikTok to share information with its users.
Hence, TikTok is falling like flies.
Now, more and more TikTok influencers are looking at other options. TikTok influencers are planning for a mass exodus or a complete ban. How are they planning? They are actively promoting their other social media channels like Facebook and Instagram. Mind you, if TikTok collapses, Facebook would be the biggest beneficiary as it’s looking to recapture the creative audience that moved over to Instagram.
Video gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins just deleted his TikTok account over security concerns.
Here is the thing, we looked at social media platform having access to our personal information as a bit of joke. Those days are over. Experts are saying that TikTok gives China the means to pump content directly onto the phones of hundreds of millions of citizens in America and Europe.
Check out the debut track So it Goes by San Diego singer-songwriter Norii. The beautiful melancholic power ballad clocks at 3:25. It’s her debut track too. Sometimes artists write their first song and it happens to be the most special song they I ever wrote. Why? because all that pent up emotions they had throughout the years goes into that song.” I wrote ‘So It Goes’ to figure out why I was so torn up about a breakup that I instigated. The truth of it is, I felt more in the breakup than I ever did during the relationship, and writing this song was my process of understanding that,” said Norii. Check out the video here.
I rarely listen to rock but I kinda of like the track Bulletproof by Canada’s Sierra Pilot. I read that they blurs lines between hard rock and emotive pop music. I’m fine with that. Even though modern rock lost its footing in pop culture it still has the most loyal fans across the world of any major genre by a wide margin. If you’re a 90’s die hard rock fan you’ll like this alt rock act.
