“The Best Emerging Artists of 2014”

thesilentscene

The Silent Scene is on the verge of a breakthrough. The track Collecting Hearts is our favorite and they were also featured on iTunes New & Noteworthy. This is band to watch.

Justin-Klump

Justin Kump, the singer-songwriter has begun to make a mark. His album debuted on the U.S. iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart earning him solid press, and Sirius XM invited him to perform on at their studios in NYC. This ability to craft catchy but sincere songs has garnered comparisons to James Taylor, Phillip Phillips, and Damien Rice since his arrival on the scene in 2006. He’s a musician’s musician (having once recorded and mixed a full album in a makeshift studio of blankets and a ping-pong table in his brother’s family room), and is an engaging performer whose songs are the perfect soundtrack for sun-drenched picnic days and shared starry nights. But Justin’s complete mastery of the guitar is the cornerstone of his ability to connect with any audience, and is at the foundation of his Spring 2014 release, The Night is Young. Check out his track The Night is Young.

Emmy Bachmann is a brand new artist on the scene yet has already been dubbed a blond bombshell singer-songwriter by PopWrapped. Her new 6 song EP is a collection of songs that tells a different part of her life story. They are honest, personal and versatile similar to the music styles of Adele, Alanis Morissette, Christina Perry and Lana Del Rey. Our favorite tracks are I Don’t Love Him and Rescue Yourself.

Vava-Voom3

Vava Voom created a buzz with her song Supersonic featuring Sean Kingston. Chasing those dreams while on a holiday trip to America in 2010 changed her life. A chance meeting with a like-minded producer and songwriter would make it possible for her to live the dream of working on her music outside of Switzerland. Compiling a host of trips and experiences in New York City, Vava Voom’s music and style would start to take on a new look, shape and sound. Pop music that she thought was fun, sexy and cool, with no boundaries, and the imagery to accompany that. From electro and indy-pop, to house and genre bending traces of rock and urban, nothing was off limits. “It sounds like a uniquely directed, cool iTunes radio station. Lots of stuff that you like all in one.” With this newly found confidence, she got her bearings as a songwriter, guitarist, piano player and a powerhouse singer, “at the same !@#$%^&* time”!

Anthony Rankin

Anthony Rankin’s track Pheonix in Vegas has become a fan favorite and is looking to be a popular placement on upcoming TV shows. Over the course of the last year, under the collaboration and guidance of Swedish-born producer and Nashville tour veteran Victor Brodén, Rankin has written and recorded a game-changing trilogy of EPs entitled Love Elektrik, with the third and final installment scheduled to drop in August. Says Jessica Morishita of Confront Magazine, “[Like that of] Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 and Prince, [Rankin’s music is] sexual, it’s raw and if you weren’t in the mood to dance before, you certainly are once it hits the speakers.”

Maggie Chapman

Maggie Chapman is a must listen. Check out the track Graffiti which comes off her debut EP which was produced by Luke Laird (Kacey Musgraves). Leaning on musical influences such as Jackson Brown, Carol King, Carly Simon and Tom Petty, Maggie has always been inspired by the pure melodies and lyrics found in classic artistry. In the same way, she channels the same raw emotions that have been embraced in music throughout the decades. There’s no question that Maggie commands authority in her writing. The maturity of what Maggie delivers is of natural brilliance; an innate ability to produce fresh music that defies genre boundaries.

Sydney-Leigh

Sydney Leigh for only 16 has hit major milestones for only being on the scene for a short time. She wrote and recorded with Nolan Lambroza (Sir Nolan), Steve Daly (Tracklacers) and Heidi Rojas. The Crazy Carls are making a splash on the scene. The band headlined Florida Music Festival in Orlando with Less Than Jake and Dirty Heads, and were featured on Sunfest with Train, Big Sean, and Ellie Goulding.

Thecoldandlovely

The Cold and Lovely is an alternative rock outfit made up of three seasoned L.A. music scene veterans Meghan Toohey (The Weepies, Lenka, Schuyler Fisk), Nicole Fiorentino (The Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, Spinnerette) and Patty Schemel (Hole, Imperial Teen, Juliette and the Licks). Fans of My Bloody Valentine, Pale Saints, Curve and U2 will want to take note. As Toohey says, “I dug really deep into albums that changed my life. … I tried to pinpoint what I loved about the guitar tones and production. I wanted there to be a grit to this record that I hadn’t truly expressed the way I wanted to on the first record.” Mission accomplished. Kevin Bronson, BUZZ BANDS LA 2013

The Vantage

Austin based pop indie act The Vantage have created a buzz with their song On My Way. The band has already garnered over 200K plays on Soundcloud, and ‘On My Way’ was recently featured on ABC Family’s “The Vineyard”. They are mix of Jack Johnson, Fun, Imagine Dragons and The Dangerous Summer. The band has upcoming dates in Austin.

Kit-Walters

Kit has released a new song along with a video Your Ghost. KIT is a rock-inspired pop group fronted by American recording artist and producer Kit Walters. Bringing an explosive energy to the stage with an unconventional punk rock attitude, KIT commands the attention of all in attendance and sends them home with a head full of unforgettable hooks. He has shared the stage with artists such as One Republic, Cobra Starship, Flo Rida, Kat Graham, Bret Michaels and many more.

Hurricane Love

Hurricane Love the band that is perhaps Swedish music’s best-kept secret are buzzing. For several years the band had a relentless schedule of song-writing and touring, that has built up a large and loyal base of listeners. They have performed over 100 gigs, toured in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, England and Germany, and opened for The Movitz! and The Royal Concept. They performed at major festivals and venues, winning the Emergenza – the world’s biggest live music competition for unsigned bands and were praised by Billboard. With diverse influences from acts like Coldplay, Sigur Rós, Muse, Mumford & Sons the band has found their own sound which can be heard in the new single Nowhere To Go.

Rosco Bandana

Rosco Bandana has quickly built a name for themselves, a seven-piece Americana band from Gulfport, Mississippi. Local attention inspired the band to enter in a Battle of the Bands contest sponsored by Hard Rock, which they handily won, and they soon flew out to Los Angeles to work on their debut with acclaimed producer Greg Collins (U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt).

Ed Prosek

Californian singer-songwriter Ed Prosek is creating a buzz with his latest work. His latest track “Hold On Tight” hit 100,000 plays in less than 3 weeks, and reached #1 on Hype Machine. With comparisons to James Vincent McMorrow, Patrick Watson, George Ezra and Ben Howard, he has dramatically announced himself as one to watch on the scene. Prosek has toured the UK, the West Coast of the US and Germany and just completed a 12 date UK Tour that took him all the way up to Aberdeen.

Colin Huntley

Colin Huntley is an emerging singer/songwriter & guitarist based in Austin, TX. The video for his single Best I Never Had has already garnered 315,000 YouTube streams and was nominate for an HMMA Award. He was a contestant on ABC’s Rising Star and is currently collaborating with some members from Blue October.

Jaime Payne

The track Figure It Out by Jaime Payne, a Toronto folk-pop singer-songwriter has become a Kings favorite. Upon the release of her new MuchFACT video which landed #3 on the Fresh Five Countdownon The Verge/ SiriusXM 173, in October, Payne says, “I play music to share my own stories. I want to sing songs that say something important, not just popular. Something that resonates. Music that you feel to; a song that makes you think.” The track also reached #1 on Top 20 Countdown on Hunters Bay Radio.

saysay

Say Say has become a Kings favorite. Support from KROQ “Locals Only” has helped this band gain momentum. The single Animal has become a fan favorite and can be compared to Capital Cities offering an infectious mix of synth-heavy dance pop. Say Say started out as a solo project for Reiter but quickly became a passion for Gurtis, who’s DJ background helped to complete the sound.

Royal Tongues

The Royal Tongues a duo out of Buffalo, NY have recently burst onto the scene with high-energy synth anthems ready for sync placements and alt radio traction. The duo has spent much of this past year co-writing with major songwriters from LA to NYC and scoring major sync placements. They were featured on Neon Gold and premiering FM debut on KX93.5 We Found New Music. Influences range from Smallpools, Passion Pit and Grouplove. Listen to The Balance.

Likeswimming

Like Swimming became a Kings favorite. 2014 was a great year for the band, starting of with the mega festival SXSW and the release of their first EP, with brand new song Let Go as title track. In September, the trio released a full length album, ‘Structures.’

Stephanie Sky

Stephanie Skye has gained considerable amount of interest. Stephanie’s prowess vocals puts her in the same league as Christina Aguilera, Adele and Sia. Instead of cookie cutter pop she focuses on themes such as heartache and courage that can be heard in the track Skin & Bones. Known for her explosive live performance, Skye remains artist to watch.

Step Rockets

Step Rockets released a new song this year “Heart Attack Again”. The band continues to build momentum after building a buzz with the song Kisser which hit #1 on Hype Machine and with over 300,000 SoundCloud plays. Step Rockets are well crafted songwriters with the perfect vocalist filling the gap, nevertheless, a band to watch.
