MORE Indie Invaders / POSTED BY: KINGSOFAR

After turning heads with her ethereal single “SUNSCREEN” — co-written with the late, visionary producer SOPHIE — underground pop icon and hyperpop trailblazer LIZ is back in full sparkle mode with her latest release, “Likey”. It’s a glossy, sugar-coated anthem that blends Y2K nostalgia with futuristic pop audacity.

Co-written with Jimmy Harry (Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears), “Likey” is like BRAT-era confidence dipped in cotton candy — a shimmering mix of thumping bass, glitchy synths, and sparkling harp flourishes. Built around an irresistibly sticky hook, it’s the kind of song that instantly earns replay status.

Vocally, LIZ pirouettes between flirtatious rap cadences and sweet, crystalline melodies, weaving a soundscape that feels both rebellious and inviting. There’s a tongue-in-cheek confidence to her delivery — playful, self-aware, and soaked in the glittery chaos of early-internet pop.

While “Likey” fits naturally beside the genre-bending sounds of FKA Twigs, Shygirl, and Doja Cat, it stands uniquely in its own pastel universe. LIZ isn’t following trends — she’s rewriting the rulebook for what pop can sound like in 2025.

It’s easy to imagine “Likey” shimmering on playlists like Hyperpop, Future Pop, Ultimate Pop Hits, or Fresh Finds Pop, where its candy-coated production and attitude-driven energy feel right at home.

With “Likey,” LIZ continues to prove she’s one of pop’s most fearless stylists — a self-made star turning nostalgia into neon-lit innovation.
