Lewis Capaldi was the best selling UK artist in 2019. The Scottish singer achieved worldwide success with his ballad Someone You Loved racking up 228 million streams. Other best selling artists in the UK were Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, Queen, Ariana Grande, Tom Walker, and Rod Stewart. According to BPI, streaming is now responsible for three-quarters of “album equivalent sales”.

Zoë Ferguson releases Beg For Me. It’s the third single from the singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon.  Zoë’s first single ‘Dip’ and the follow up ‘Medicine’ are pretty strong as well. At 17, she sticks with lyrical themes focusing on high school experiences and break ups. Give it a stream.

Big talk around Tokyo’s Revenge. He has two tracks on Spotify’s Viral 50 – GOODMORNINGTOKYO! at #1 and THOT! sitting at #13. The track is also gaining on Apple Music. The 20 year old rapper inked a deal with the 740 Project via Scooter Braun. Stay tuned.

Kanye West has a released Christmas album today ‘Jesus Is Born’. The album is a a 19-track collection of songs performed with his Sunday Service Choir. This marks his second gospel effort.

Ariana Grande wrapped up her wildly successful 2019 Sweetener World Tour with a live album “K Bye for Now” (Republic).  Her nine month run ended in December with a final show at LA’s Forum. It was a big production show with 40 trucks and a 70 person crew. Ariana has been non-stop for nearly two years having released two albums back to back that scored top 10 hits as well as Grammy nods. After years of hard work, then comes exhaustion and reflection which is why she probably broke down in tears during her last performance.
