Lady Antebellum changed its name after learning the history of Antebellum. I have no idea what Antebellum means to be honest. The dictionary definition of antebellum literally means “before the war,” coming from the Latin phrase, ante bellum. But to further break it down Antebellum is also an aesthetic – architecture and fashion. The issue is that it was created by slave labor.
The band says, “We are regretful and embarrassed to say that we did not take into account the associations that weigh down this word referring to the period of history before the Civil War, which includes slavery,” Lady A wrote, of the band’s blind spots at the time.
We also hear the discussion is moving in many directions. Some are calling that the rock band Guns N’s Roses drops Guns as before the Civil War ended, state “Slave Codes” prohibited slaves from owning guns. The crowd is urging DSP’s to pull tracks that subjugate women from both male and female artists because slavery brought women under control and dominance. How far will this go? What I do know is that blackout is moving beyond Tuesday.

Flying under the radar the NY/LA based artist has clocked 1 Million+ streams on Spotify, performed at both London and New York Fashion Week and garnered support from Clash, Dancing Astronaut, Earmilk, Ladygunn, and NYLON. Word on the street is the week Leah got fired from her job is when things started happening like landing on Spotify’s New Music Friday on Spotify. Give it a listen on KOAR’s Indie Invaders.

I know it’s tough, but I turned off the news for a week. I was more creative. I thought by watching the news 24 hours a day that I was keeping myself informed, rather I was being propagandized. Here is a song lyric – turn off the news and your life will improve. The media will leave you feeling pessimistic, and overwhelmed. Why watch the news when its sole purpose is to ruin your day? The news will zap your creativity and feeling empty.

I really Like We Used To Be by Peter Katz. Is it me or is chill pop taking over? Because this a really good chill pop track. The single was written by Katz and co-writer and Grammy-Award winning producer/songwriter Rich Jaques. Katz previous releases landed on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts – he was also nominated for a Juno Award. Give it a stream on our Indie Invaders Playlist.

The atmosphere has become increasingly poisonous. Right vs left, stay home vs reopen, mask or no mask..to many wars to count. Just look at the pushback Lana Del Rey received over her Instagram post. People are looking for a fight. I’m afraid to say the sky is blue. Look, we need music that unites. The people in the USA are better than this. We’ve always been the beacon of light to the world and we must do everything in our power that the light doesn’t dim. We only hurt ourselves. I wish some of the influencers and artists stayed out of the media wars. Don’t be deceived, the ruling class just uses the artists for their purpose. It doesn’t benefit artists careers, it benefits the agenda pushers. People want a break. They want to escape. The world is fragile. We need to come together. A new wave of songs that inspire unity is what the world needs.
