I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of indie folk, but I got quickly hooked on the track Some Of Your Songs by David Ost. He’s a singer-songwriter that bounced back and forth between Germany and Scotland, now residing in Hamburg. His goal was to create an original soundtrack for an off-pop riot you won’t be able to get out of your head any time soon. I must say mission accomplished, and pretty darn good for a second single.
I stumbled on a track I really like by Estherlivia (Esther Ribbstedt Österman). It’s called Limbo and which is taken from her upcoming debut EP. The 22 year old singer-songwriter and producer hails from Sweden. The song was featured on Sounds of Sweden Playlist via Apple Music and Spotify’s GRL PWR. Give it a stream on Indie Invaders Playlist.
Atlanta based Alex Harris will releases a new track Say Less along with a music video that will be released Friday via Red Music/Epic Records. Growing up on Dr. Dre and Eminem, the singer-songwriter blends pop, hip-hop, alternative and R&B. His debut EP Pink Cloud in February has clocked over 200K Spotify streams. “I want to bring honesty through my music,” Harris confesses while discussing what he wants listeners to take away from his music. “It’s okay to be vulnerable and express how you feel. There’s so much pressure to look cool, be cool, and control your life through social media to give the perception that everything’s good. If I can give people my true interpretation of the good, bad, and ugly in my life, maybe it can encourage others to embrace those things in their life. You can better yourself.” Give it a listen.
Look out for Los Angeles alt-pop singer-songwriter BAUM and her new single “F–boy‘. Still unsigned, she sounds seasoned and the track is radio-ready. Here is the latest video which was directed by Marcella Cytrynowicz who has worked with Snoop Dogg and Nike.
Press: Billboard, Paper, Nylon, Galore, and Fader
Streams: Hot Water has over a million streams on Spotify.
YouTube: brand new video for F–boy has clocked 14k views within a week.
Look out for James Smith’s new track Tell Me That You Love Me. In the vein of John Legend’s All Of Me, it sounds like an adult contemporary smash. The UK singer-songwriter released his debut EP Little while the title track garnered over 3 million streams. The latest track which was co-written and produced by James was inspired by a heartbreak. James reveals, “It was inspired by my first heartbreak, something I didn’t want to happen but it was inevitable, it’s the story of our last couple of days together, ‘pretending it’s all alright’. Hearing the band & gospel choir for the first time completely blew my mind”. Give it a stream.
