Darling Parade who we featured last year went to New York City recently played at MTV Studios Time Square for the MTV/VH1/CMT O Music Awards. They took home the award in the “make a band famous” category, were named an MTV “Artist to Watch”, and will also play VMA weekend in August. The band is starring in a national TV campaign for Supercuts “Rock the Cut”, with commercials that begin airing nationally July 1st. Check out the track Ghost.

Buzz Track: Shut Up & Sing

The voice of Greta Svabo Bech captivated the Dance world, when she worked with Deadmau5 on their Grammy Nominated “Raise Your Weapon”, and more recently with Bloody Beetroots on “Chronicles of a Fallen Love” (October 2012). This summer, the songstress is debuting new material releasing a run of singles. The first of these, “Shut Up & Sing” is available from 8th July, with a video and remix package following shortly after.

Buzz Track: Driftin

Since forming in California, Y LUV has released several EP’s and have racked up some impressive tour stats playing alongside The Crystal Method, Tokyo Police Club, Penguin Prison, The Knocks, and Robert DeLong among others. Y LUV will play Bonnaroo and Glastonbury this summer. Taking cues from The Killers, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys- check out the track Driftin.

Buzz Track: Shine Out

Colour of London is a pop/rock duo from Nashville. The band recorded their EP with producer Dustin Burnett (Kingsfoil, Abandon Kansas). They hit road this past spring playing colleges in the Northeast as part of the Path of Life tour and are preparing to embark on a 23 city acoustic tour of the east coast from Maine to Florida. The band draws it’s influence from One Republic and Imagine Dragons. The track Shine Out could find it’s way on the top 40 charts. They are a band to watch in 2013.

In the last week of June, we’re seeing a divide among the on Billboard’s flagship Hot 100 chart. Not pop versus rock, or hip-hop versus dance, or fast versus slow. I’m talking about new versus old.

The major Song of Summer contenders still feel new — they’ve been wafting through the air only a couple of months. For example, current chart-topper “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke has spent a total of nine weeks on the Hot 100. Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” currently No. 2, is also nine weeks old. A bit lower in the Top 10, a pair of starlets have hits of roughly the same vintage — Selena Gomez’s “” (No. 8) is nine weeks old, and Ariana Grande’s “” (No. 9) is at week 11.

By contrast, in the middle of the Top 10, you’ll find a pair of hits that are now positively ancient. At No. 6 is Florida Georgia Line’s 36-week-old country-crossover smash “Cruise”. A couple of weeks ago this song, fueled by , sneaked into the Top 5 in its 34th chart week, setting a record for .
