Dani Sylvia drops the soulful electric pop track Shadows on the Sun. She’s been praised by BBC Introducing and supported ‘Haley Reinhart’ at The o2 Academy Islington and ‘The Feeling’ on their UK tour. Dani tells Kings, “This song is about the pain of being the only one who is broken-hearted by the ending of a relationship. It’s about saying “I wish you were hurting as much as I am right now so that we could share the weight of this heartbreak! But you don’t care.. and that sucks.” For me when I wrote this song I was trying to capture that kind of horrible shame that comes with knowing that you are not a loss to someone and that they aren’t grieving you. It can make you feel unimportant. The phrase ‘Shadows on the Sun’ to me explores that feeling of total chaos, confusion and that the world is upside down and warped”. Check it out.

According to a new report by industry news outlet Music Business Worldwide, the three major music labels made $6.93 billion combined from streaming in 2018. Universal Music Group, Sony, and Warner are clocking $19 Million a day from streaming along, which translates to $800,000 per hour just from music streaming services.

Universal’s biggest selling artists in the year included Drake, Post Malone, Ariana Grande The Beatles and XXXTentacion.

Music labels take approximately 80 percent of those earnings as part of traditional record deals. In other cases, mega artists tend to negotiate a more favorable royalty split – typically around 50/50.

I’m really liking The One by Byron Gindra.  It’s a strong debut single that has a Shawn Mendes vibe. Byron tells Kings, “The One is about taking a chance, risks can be rewarding and if you don’t try you will never know.” He started singing when he was 4 years old and first publicly performed at 10. He also did pretty well on American Idol.  Byron says, “Music as in life has its challenges, I choose to stay positive, follow my dreams and never give up!” Give it a listen.

Alice Pisano dropped a new emotional piano ballad Lost You In The Crowd.  Alice says, “It’s about being in love with a person that runs hot and cold. You don’t know where they stand, if they’re into you or not. Some days they are warm and sweet, other days they are cold and distant, almost like a stranger in the crowd”. Born in Italy, Alice moved to London to pursue music. Before you listen to the new release I would start with her debut single Celebrate Life which quickly clocked a million views on Spotify streams after landing on playlists ‘Soft Pop Hit’ and ‘Mellow Morning’.  Not bad for a new artist.
