Katy Alex

Liverpool Katy Alex released her latest single “Light” along with video that will come off her upcoming EP. It’s reminiscence of The Sundays emotive acoustic dream-pop. But she is much more than that. Katy makes full use of percussion instruments and plays the keyboard and guitar. She also performed festivals including Liverpool Sound City and Liverpool International Music Festival and won Merseyrail Sound Station competition. Since embarking on the music scene, Katy has developed a rapid fan base.

american-fool

Philly new-wave dream act Work Drugs just released the new single ‘American Fool‘ that comes off the forthcoming 2016 LP. As usual, this dream pop duo continuously pumps out catchy atmospheric tracks and ‘American Fool’ nearly put me in a hypnotic-sedating state. The new album is titled ‘False Highs and True Lows‘, and will have a release via Bobby Cahn Records. The band has supported Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, Peter Bjorn, and Band of Horses — and are winners of the Beijing Film and Art Festival’s coveted Crying Monkey Award.

RRNFonda

Los Angeles Run River North impresses with their latest track ‘Run Or Hide‘ which comes off the sophomore album “Drinking From A Salt Pond” via Nettwork Records. The video is equally as edgy, punchy, and slick as the track, — revealing that this 6 piece indie-rock outfit means business.

The band who worked with producer Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids) took a different direction creating more of a straight ahead rock record. The new album could take the band to the next level as their debut album gave the band a great kick-off earning them #3 spot on The Billboard Heatseekers chart and late night performances on Jimmy Kimmel and Carson Daly.

Van Damsel

The Canadian indie-pop act Van Damsel has caught my attention with their latest ‘Sophia’, a 80’s inspired upbeat song. The track which comes off their 2016 full-length release is a well crafted potential pop hit with a memorable chorus:
She said come home with me
I wanna make you see
I wanna help you understand
The stars and galaxies
Nestled between the sheets
Sophia
They broke on the scene with their 2013 EP which earned them a top 20 spot at The Peak Performance Project. This could be a big year for the band who is named after a track by Dillinger Escape Plan.

Explor

Kings favorite XPLOR, the synth-pop duo, released the new song ‘Recover’, the first offering in 2016. They built a solid following off of the debut single “Heartbreak“, and decided to switch directions a bit with the new song. The duo notes, “I released recover in 2015 in an attempt to ride the wave of “Heartbreak” which brought some attention towards the project. I decided to take the song down because I felt it was not the right time and I wanted to give it new life. The song comes a place of disappointment in a relationship but hoping things would still work even though deep inside you know it wont.
