Work Drugs

Buzz Track: Minor Flaws

We’ve become instant listeners of Work Drugs, a dream pop duo from Philadelphia. They are currently supporting their 2014 release Insurgents, released on Bobby Cahn Records. Work Drugs have supported Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, Peter Bjorn and John, Memoryhouse, and Band of Horses. They are winners of the 2011 Beijing Film and Art Festival’s coveted Crying Monkey Award. The Key notes “Their latest, “Minor Flaw” opens with an 80s pop sound that is immediately captivating. The well-worked combination of sunny riffs and just the right amount of reverb come together perfectly alongside lyrics like “like a prayer that I used to remember or just a reason to keep me hanging on.”

Although this duo remains in hiding it’s been fun trying dig up information. In their own words: “Mad scientist Woolf met the wizardly Wondershow in a cave full of mellotrons beneath a snowy forest. It was in this den of magical mystery that they dipped their quills into the ink and created a musical concept experience: Woolf and the Wondershow. They invite you to enjoy ‘Cloaked,’ the introduction to this new world, and its many chapters to come.” They also released a music video for Cloaked which is centered around a Victorian Tragedy.
