Many fans know you from your time spent as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice. How did the audition come about?

Well I had just moved to Los Angeles and was living in Studio City. The auditions were in Burbank, only 10 minutes away, and I thought, why not?!

Tell me about your experience with The Voice. What did you learn?

Honestly the most valuable take away for me was to learn to listen and trust my own inner voice, and that I always have a choice. If something doesn’t feel quite right, I have the ability to speak up and make sure that I’m able to express myself in away that feels true to myself, my sound and my message. Being on stage of that magnitude and seen by so many people over night, you learn very quickly that a moment like is like no other, and you need to make sure people get to see who you truly are and what you’re about. As artists we have an opportunity to change people’s lives and the world with a single song, it’s an incredible responsibility and blessing. I’m grateful to have learned that so early on in my career. CONTINUE READING

Mercies 17-06-06-150

Buzz Track: Echo

The indie rock forest pop trio Mercies will release their new LP ‘Blue Against Green’, on March 31st, via Randm Records. To date, they premiered two singles from the upcoming LP to Spin & All Things Go. The band has toured extensively around the US including multiple trips to CMJ & SXSW. Mercies relocated to Los Angeles in late 2013 and shortly after signed with Randm Records. Spin says “Mercies take the title of brand new track “Every Echo” literally, the song reverberating in every sense of the word. Taken from their forthcoming sophomore album, Blue Against Green, “Every Echo” has the New England pastoral-rock trio taking after their forestal predecessors, most notably Fleet Foxes circa “Helpnessness Blues.”

TheRacer

The Racer is an indie rock band from Monroe, New York who are currently wrapping up the recording process of their new album. The bands influences include Radiohead, Mutemath & Coldplay. The newest yet-to-be released album was produced by Dan Hannon, (Manchester Orchestra, A Rocket to the Moon). The band has released two albums, Stranger’s We’ll Become 2010 & Passengers 2013. Songs have been placed in Big Brother (CBS), The Real World, & The Jersey Shore, & “Coach Sitting Rattlesnake” can be downloaded in Rock Band 3. They just finished a 7 week long residency in Brooklyn, NY at Matchless and will be performing SXSW. “You’ll hear anthems that take you back to the late 90s (and an uncanny vocal likeness to Lifehouse at times), ambient soundscapes akin to Thrice’s Alchemy Index and upbeat rockers that may remind you (if only for a second) of Jimmy Eat World. It’s brilliant, from start to finish.” – Indiependent Music
