Buzz Track: My Everything
Check out and listen to the track My Everything a couple of times and you will be hooked. This was written by the Charlotte based band Side by Side who will self release a new album co-produced by the band and Patrick Boyd (Slow Runner, The Paper Tongues). In addition to scoring song placements on MTV and ABC, Billboard magazine named Side by Side one of the six best unsigned bands in the nation. Also, they tour relentlessly which places them on our ‘band to watch’.

One Direction will have the first album to sell more than a million which would be the act this year (2012) to achieve this milestone. In fact, Adele and One Direction have helped stem the decline in US album sales, which dropped just 0.6% in the first six months of 2012. The band picked up 3 Teen Choice Awards overshadowing Justin Bieber.

Artists like Adele and Gotye are giving Triple a new life. Triple A (adult album alternative) is a niche radio format that nurtured Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Gotye’s Somebody I Use To Know. Other debut singles finding success at the format include Imagine Dragons’ “It’s Time” (at No. 2 this week), Ed Sheeran’s “The A Team” (No. 3) and Grouplove’s “Tongue Tied” (No. 6). “Popular music comes in cycles. The pendulum is swinging in triple A’s favor,” she says. “Adele, Gotye, Jason Mraz and others being accepted by top 40 means that the young end is into the new music we play. Long-term, that’s so important to our survival.” (Billboard)
