The Story: Scotty typically performs at various live-music venues and resorts in Ontario Canada. Most recently, he shared the stage with Sublime with Rome, Tokyo Police Club, and opened up for He Is We and Andrew Allen in Toronto. Record deals come in all shapes and sizes, depending on the genre of music. Generally, record deals have become smaller due to illegal downloading, piracy, etc. Regardless, pop music is still an expensive business, especially with the cost of making a record and marketing to an audience. The above chart shows a breakdown of costs thanks to DMN. In summary, it costs approximately $1 million to break a new pop artist and roughly $4,650,000 is spent making and promoting a superstar album.

The Story: 19 year old pop artist Nicole Ferris hails from New Jersey and just finished recording two tracks with The Jam (Lady Gaga) in Los Angeles. The track ‘Just Don’t Matter’ quickly became a Kings favorite.

The Cost of Rihanna's Man Down
NPR broke down the overall cost to create a song that came off Rihanna’s recent album. These numbers look extremely high, but in reality, it’s not. When a music label rolls out new music from a superstar the budget is big and the cost is high. Although, it is interesting that it takes at least 40 songwriters to write a 3 minute hit song today.
