Golda has officially become a Kings favorite. Her latest acoustic ballad Dear Los Angeles that talks about the darker side of LA sealed the deal for me. The LA based singer-songwriter released three powerful singles to date.  Influenced by the likes of Lorde, YEBBA and Phoebe Bridgers, the latest track comes off her forthcoming self-titled EP. She has a really unique backstory as she grew up in both Chicago and San Diego to Ukrainian parents and honed on her songwriting skills while taking a trip to India.

As I said the last few weeks, music thrives in times of crisis.

Global Citizen and the World Health Organization (WHO) — in association with the United Nations Foundation have rallied up some artists and will present a global broadcast to support frontline healthcare workers

The special is called “One World: Together at Home”. It will air at 8 p.m.ET April 18 on ABC, NBC and ViacomCBS networks, and iHeartMedia.

The virtual broadcast will tell stories of those who have been impacted by COVID-19 as well as share behind the scenes of frontline healthcare workers around the world.

Lady Gaga coordinated the event and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert. Appearances include 25 musicians – Chris Martin, Eddie Vedder, Lizzo, Elton John, John Legend, Alanis Morissette, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish and Finneas, Billie Joe Armstrong, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Maluma, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Idris and Sabrina Elba, and David Beckham.

Indie act KYTES releases a uptempo 80ish inspired track Runaway.  It has a memorable anthem and it sounds like a sleeper hit, reminiscent of lovelytheband’s broken or Neon Trees ‘Animal’. The band has performed more than 250 shows to date including SXSW and music festivals – The Great Escape, Frequency, and Melt! The indie 4 piece has had an illustrious past – landing on top of the Hype Machine charts, a sold out European tour, and racking up millions of streams.  Give the track a stream.

The Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, & Joan Jett tour is nearly cancelled according to insiders.

“The tour is almost 100% cancelled. Rehearsals at an unknown location in LA were supposed to happen in May. Those have been cancelled. Given the band’s age and to quote the contact’s words “declining ability”, it may not even get rescheduled.”

This was going to be the rock tour of the summer. Apparently, 700,000 tickets were sold generating over $90 million in the first weekend of sales. The tour was set to kick off in June.

Zachary Knowles released a new track ‘Cherry Wine‘ that I really like. Having released a few singles, I think he is finding his own sound, and it’s his best song yet.

Knowles says: “The meaning behind “Cherry Wine” is super personal. I wrote about what life looked like before I was dating the girl I love. Before we started dating I was crazy about her (at the age of 14 haha that’s crazy to say) but didn’t know if she felt the same. I wanted to capture what that time of my life felt like.”

The Houston, TX has been releasing his music through Fader. The 20 year old bedroom artist began releasing songs on SoundCloud before releasing his first EP as a freshman in college at Texas A&M.  Check out the track on our Indie Invaders Playlist.
