Kings favorite Step Rockets drops the new tracks which are coupled together You/ Bad Dreams. We first profiled Step Rockets and their debut track Kisser in 2013. The track immediately became an internet hit clocking over millions of streams. Giving the band plenty of interest among music labels, the band continued to stay course as a DIY indie band. Since then, they’ve continued to crank out infectious indie pop tunes. The band tells kings, “We’ve found it the most fulfilling as artists releasing music on our own”. Ironically, the Twin Cities band gets better with time. Give it a stream.

Brand new act My Ultra Violet is quickly rising up the ranks with their latest track Wilde As Me. Fronted by Dexy Valentine from Magic Wand, the new song references Oscar Wilde. The Los Angeles trio is venturing into the world of synths and dream pop but with choruses and verses that are digestible. Although the dream pop act aren’t breaking any new barriers, it doesn’t mean they can’t find a home. The previous released single Islands is pretty good as well.  Give it a listen.

Denver based duo Lucy Daydream  dropped their debut track A Feeling With A View.  With a moody, creeping, intoxicating melody, the track sounds like a mainstream radio hit.  Before crafting original songs in a basement studio, the indie pop duo began posting music covers. Ironically, Post Malone’s ‘Go Flex which was one of their first covers clocked over 2 million YouTube streams. Give it a stream.

Alt-pop trio  NONONO dropped the track Dancing (Mumbai Wedding) along with a music video. Still, my favorite recent release is Wasted.  The Swedish act made some waves in 2014 with the release of Pumpin Blood that sold more than 2 million singles and landed them on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, and a US tour supporting Twenty One Pilots and Foster the People. The Swedish act formed in Stockholm following Stina’s return from Brighton University in the UK where she had spent three years studying for a degree in psychology. She’d been signed by a label as a 17-year-old but had grown weary. “I had done two years of just writing with different producers and there was pressure to always be writing something that could be a hit and there were a lot of strict ways of how songs should sound. It took the fun out of it. It made me really sad and made me think I didn’t want to be a songwriter. But, these guys just encouraged creativity and for the songs not having to be a certain way – as long as you feel it and it feels good.” Give the new track a stream.

Erich Bergen releases the track Running Through The Night.  Radio darlings like Daughtry and Lifehouse come to mind after giving this track a stream. Fresh off his Broadway debut, you may know Bergen who plays Blake Moran on the CBS TV drama series, Madam Secretary.  Bergen tells Kings that the feedback has been amazing, “The response to this song has been more than I could have imagined. I’ve received hundreds of messages on social media, both public and private, about how much this song has meant to them on a personal level. One person in India told me it was the first time they’ve felt ‘understood.’ Another in Minnesota told me it gave them the courage to come out to their family. What this proves to me is that music continues to be the singular universal language that connects us all and that we are all more alike than not. I’m very proud ‘Running Through The Night’ could have some small part in that.” Check it out!
