Buzz Track: Oxygen

Check out the track Oxygen by Tommy Collier. This Nashville singer songwriter who just released his first solo record has produced several other artists including Katy Perry’s first solo record. His new record which can be streamed on Bandcamp falls in the same lane as Tom Petty as well as The Wall Flowers that consist of big hooks, gritty vocals along with memorable melodies. We’ve been posting Kingsfoil for the last 2 years because I’ve enjoyed your music, it’s different yet melodic and catchy. Your new
record is finally breaking through, it debuted #42 on the iTunes Rock Charts.

How long have you been a band for?
(Jordan) Tristan and I grew up together playing in different bands and writing music together. We played acoustic for awhile and put a lot of time into getting better at writing songs, around 5 years ago we added Tim and went full band. Since then we have worked hard and put in the time to really build out band from the ground up.

You’ve had some line-up changes, correct?
(Jordan) yes, Tim is the second bass player and frankie is the second drummer. otherwise.. that’s the only lineup changes we’ve had.

Who generally writes the songs? Is it a collective effort?
(Jordan) Most of the time I will write a song on guitar or piano, or Tristan and I will write something and bring it to the band, at that point, everybody adds their two cents. Sometimes ideas happen as we are all jamming or working together.

Tells us about the record making process.
(Jordan) after we get a song down and everybody has their parts written we will demo the song and send it to our producer Dustin Burnett, he will give us feedback on it… we often will re-demo the tune a couple times. We like to get the song feeling good well before the studio. Then when we go in to make a record we have a strong base of a song, we can then spend some time and try and couple more things in the studio… recording is a blast for me.

Mumford and Sons sold 600k of their new CD ‘Babel’ in the first week which marks the biggest selling debut of the year. Babel‘s amazing sales far outshine the next-best debut of the year, Justin Bieber’s Believe, which sold 374,000 copies in its first week.

“Of the 600,000 copies that Babel sold, a whopping 420,000 (72 percent) of them were digital albums. That’s the second-biggest digital sales week ever behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which sold 662,000 digital copies thanks, in part, to its controversial 99-cent deal on Amazon.”

The Music business is exceptional with absolutely no formula or guidelines. One week it’s a Korean gangsta rapper, the next week it’s a couple of white guys with banjos.

Buzz Track: Road Trippin‘

Ashlee is an 18 year New Jersey native following in the same foot steps as Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. Highlights include being a Guest Star on Elizabeth Stanton’s Great Big World in 2012 (Associated Television), playing the leading role of “ANNIE” at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, and being selected over several thousand applicants to appear on CBS’ nationally televised show STAR SEARCH where she was a weekly episode winner.
In 2008, Ashlee was selected as a RADIO DISNEY INCUBATOR ARTIST (up and coming) and her songs were heard on Radio Disney. She also appeared as a guest artist at several of their live shows.  She has opened for Demi Lovato, Keke Palmer, and Raven Symone among others.

Buzz Track: Never

Canadian artist Scotty James released a new song titled ‘Never’. The song was produced by Jon Dixon (Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson). He is influenced by John Mayer, Matt Nathanson, and The Fray. He has shared the stage with Sublime with Rome, Tokyo Police Club, as well as He Is We. Check back for upcoming tour dates.
