I’m really like Island Chick by EJO. Fans of a mellow moody groove will love. It would fit perfect on Spotify’s Chill Vibes Playlist.

Originally from Wisconsin, but now Miami based, Erik Johansen Gambill, aka EJO cites Kali Uchis, Croosh, Felly, Tame Impala as influences. Having spent a year in Valencia, Spain, Erik’s draws from worldly influences and blends hip-hop, R&B and alternative pop.

“Island Chick” is a smooth summer jam inspired by the culture of Miami and the islands” shares EJO. Give it a stream on KOAR’s Indie Invaders Playlist.

Watch out for Natalie Shay and the upbeat track Medicine Boy that looks at a dysfunctional relationship. Fans of the 90’s and the sound of 2010 will like. The song has been added to Spotify’s New Pop UK and New Music Friday.

The 21 year old indie pop artist hails from North London and has performed The Roundhouse, The 100 club, Ronnie Scotts, and O2 Academy Islington.

“I really wanted to write about the way a relationship that ‘isn’t good’, isn’t always ‘totally bad’. The almost ‘Bitter sweet’ middle ground” shares Natalie. She just wrapped up a sold out gig at London’s Oslo Hackney.

Look out for Calica and the track Letting Go. Fans of upbeat indie pop will enjoy. It would fit well on Spotify’s Indie Dancefloor playlist.

She built a decent sized TikTok following with over 250k followers. Her single Little Girl, went viral on TikTok that featured her father’s reaction to the song. Hailing from Miami, Florida, she graduated from the University of Miami Frost School of Music and began writing and producing alongside Grammy-nominated producer duo SMLE.

“Letting Go” is a really fun, upbeat disco track, but the lyrics are actually about what it’s been like being single for the last 4 years. It’s been a really independent time of my life, and I’ve sort of kept most of my romantic partners at a distance. I wrote the song as I was reflecting on the reasons why I’ve avoided getting into another relationship, and how an old flame back in Miami could be holding me back from being vulnerable with anyone else” shares Calica.

Look out for Linnea Siggelkow aka Ellis and the new track Hell. It took me a few times to get hooked and add it to KOAR’s Indie Invaders Playlist. I like it because it’s introspective and draws you in. You could feel the same effect if you pay attention. The song would fit nicely on Spotify’s Late Night Vibes Playlist.

The track comes off the ‘nothing is sacred anymore‘ out tomorrow 6/25. The Hamilton based dream pop artist previously released “hospital” and “what if love isn’t enough.”

“What happens to us when we die?” Siggelkow asks. “Obviously I don’t know for sure but I think the concept of hell in a traditional sense is very strange. Thinking about it as a place that exists in the afterlife feels like it discounts all the real and shitty things that people endure in this lifetime. Hell exists on earth, we see it all the time. I like to think that death isn’t the gateway to hell, it’s some kind of freedom from it.”

The sister duo KTJ & CARLY releases Hidden. It’s a bit different and it’s not easy achieving uniqueness today. Blending pop, electronic, and r&b, the pop cites ROZES, JoJo, and PVRIS as influences.

Currently enrolled in the Berklee College of Music’s online program, The Los Angeles based duo released their dynamic debut “Identity EP” in 2020. Features include Rolling Stone, Atwood Magazine, Euphoria, and Flaunt. They scored their first feature film, “God Save The Queen,”.

“We wanted to write a song about hiding our inner-demons and being the one in the relationship that is non-commital or has fears of being vulnerable,” says Katie Haynes. Give it a stream on KOAR’s Indie Invaders Playlist.
