Popular fashion and beauty influencer Mia Sayoko turns to music and drops the track Apologies. Her latest track is birthed from pain. She notes, “Apologies” is about overcoming a controlling, manipulative, and abusive relationship. The 25 year old YouTuber was born in Okinawa, Japan, and started releasing singles in 2019. If you like the pop genre right now I can’t find a reason why you couldn’t get into some of her several single releases.

Good is good and bad is bad. The track Friend by Tyler Shamy is good. It seems like the Los Angeles singer-songwriter writes lots of songs and to land good ones you need to write hundreds if not thousands. He co-wrote the song Space Between for Disney’s Descendants 2 sung by Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson as well songs for J-Pop and K-Pop. Sometimes you gotta keep the best yourself – give it a stream on Indie Invaders Playlist.

It’s hard to find a good indie rock act these days but Manchester UK act Pacific solves that problem with their new track Last Life. So I went on Spotify and also heard their kickoff 2020 track Idol which I really like as well. Huw Stephens, XS Manchester and Jack FM are big fans.  Give it a listen especially if you like big sounding indie rock anthems like Coldplay and Keane use to give us.

Lee Cole’s new heartbreak track I Don’t Wanna Wait hit the South Africa’s Shazam Charts. The track also landed on Apple’s Heartbreak Pop playlist and Future Hits. The track has clocked more than 100k Spotify streams.  I think Lewis Capaldi and Dean Lewis fans will love this singer-songwriter. Give it a stream on our Indie Invaders playlist.

Lady Antebellum changed its name after learning the history of Antebellum. I have no idea what Antebellum means to be honest. The dictionary definition of antebellum literally means “before the war,” coming from the Latin phrase, ante bellum. But to further break it down Antebellum is also an aesthetic – architecture and fashion. The issue is that it was created by slave labor.
The band says, “We are regretful and embarrassed to say that we did not take into account the associations that weigh down this word referring to the period of history before the Civil War, which includes slavery,” Lady A wrote, of the band’s blind spots at the time.
We also hear the discussion is moving in many directions. Some are calling that the rock band Guns N’s Roses drops Guns as before the Civil War ended, state “Slave Codes” prohibited slaves from owning guns. The crowd is urging DSP’s to pull tracks that subjugate women from both male and female artists because slavery brought women under control and dominance. How far will this go? What I do know is that blackout is moving beyond Tuesday.
