Dua Lipa tops Spotify’s New Music Friday Playlist with the new track Don’t Start Now. The song which is built for the clubs and written about her ex, was penned by the same team who wrote and produced her breakthrough hit single ‘New Rules’

“I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and start another,” says Lipa. “Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with.”

Emerging Nashville based pop artist Stef releases the lo-fi indie pop track Sour which found its way on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and other playlists. The Alabama native just released her debut EP and would love to collaborate with Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, and Drake.  The track has clocked over 12k streams since its September release. Check out the video here.

Almost Monday releases the playful ‘Broken People‘. The group consists of three surfers from San Diego that blends elements from The 1975, Phoenix, and Walk The Moon. That track was produced by Simon Oscroft (The Aces, MOTHXR) and mixed Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Walk The Moon). The track  clocked nearly 500k Spotify streams. Give it a listen.

Tones and I celebrates her triple-platinum certified global smash “Dance Monkey”. The track is No. 1  in 13 countries, including the U.K. – The song has already clocked 300 million+ Spotify streams. In fact, it’s the longest-Running No. 1 Hit By solo female artist in Australian history.

CEO Daniel Ek announced that Spotify grew to 248 million monthly average users in the last three months. Spotify forecast it would end 2019 with 255 million to 270 million monthly active users.
