Indie alternative pop act Sleeping Wolf is making noise with the latest track ‘Ghost’. The Los Angeles duo is a collaboration of Steve Solomon & Jake Newton who began writing in 2014 and have a broad range of influences. The release of their debut ‘EP’ got initial traction having been handpicked by iTunes as a ‘new music spotlight’ and has had nearly million streams across Soundcloud & YouTube. Their latest single ‘Ghost‘ which is layered in classic 80’s synths is my favorite, and is the first of the tracks to be released in 2016. The band notes, “Ghost has been hanging around our subconscious for a while. We’ve written versions and variations of this song a few times before we landed on the current iteration. We wanted nostalgia and something that would tear at your heart while dance.”

If you haven’t heard of the Nova Scotia, Canadian outfit Rain Over St. Ambrose, that could all change soon. They dub themselves as Trans-Fat Rock, but seriously the track ‘Broken Love‘ is awesome, and reeks of coolness. The video directed by Scott Simpson (David Myles, Carleton Stone) is also well crafted and reveals the bands live performance. Featuring backup vocals from Jennah Barry, the single spent some weeks on CBC Radio 3’s R3-30 charts but it can go much further, a couple of ‘check-out-this-band’ tweets from celebs would serve them well.

Los Angeles based Jake London who goes under the name City Of Neon released the 80’s inspired ‘Electric Love‘ which is upbeat, catchy, and will quickly get the bored on the dance floor. Jake has a story that consists of loss, influence, and a move to Hollywood. Most of all, City Of Neon came as he was driving while listening to Ryan Adams. Jake is planning upcoming shows that will coincide with the new soon to-be-released EP titled “Ruminator,” which was produced by engineer Phil Allen (Adele, Pink).
