Buzz Track: Life Vest

South California-based rockers, The Material have released their brand new video for “Life Vest”. The band owned a spot in Purevolume’s Top 20 Unsigned Bands, headlined the Picture Healing Winter Tour,  performed on Vans Warped Tour and was featured in Alternative Press and Substream Music Press. They racked up over 300,000 purchased downloads and have an extensive catalog of song placements. To date The Material have been heard on everything from the Rock Band video game to television features on WB’s Sorority Forever and MTV’s The Hills, along with the theme song for MTV Australia’s Freshwater Blue.

Buzz Track: Already Free

Dallas based alternative rock band Treeside just released their debut EP “XIII” . Treeside’s Blaine and Brady Mitchell cut their EP album in LA with producer Ethan Kaufmann and studio musicians Aaron Sterling (John Mayer) and Dave Amezcua (Awolnation) along side mixer Will Brierre (Killers).  This is a band to watch as they are already creating a buzz in their hometown. You can hear some Mumford & Sons in their track Already Free.

Kings of A&R first featured Ohio alternative duo, Twenty One Pilots, back on February 12, 2012.  Following a signing with Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic, the group has been everywhere.  Their new video release for Car Radio has generated 750k views, their album ‘Holding Onto You‘ has hit #10 on the Billboard Alternative Charts and Spotify recently released their Exclusive LIVE Stream from SXSW.  Check them out August 2nd during Lollapalooza 2013.

Skillet

The only three bands that achieved platinum status last year were Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, and a lesser known hard rock act from Wisconsin called Skillet. In fact, Skillet is a Christian band.

“Skillet’s success seems to signal a growing acceptance of Christian rock at a time when rock is generally declining in cultural importance. While it is not unusual for Christian acts to score an occasional hit on mainstream radio, Skillet has become a regular presence there, emerging as a leader among Christian bands that have crossover appeal, among them Thousand Foot Krutch, P.O.D., Flyleaf and Switchfoot.” Read more

Darling Parade who we featured last year went to New York City recently played at MTV Studios Time Square for the MTV/VH1/CMT O Music Awards. They took home the award in the “make a band famous” category, were named an MTV “Artist to Watch”, and will also play VMA weekend in August. The band is starring in a national TV campaign for Supercuts “Rock the Cut”, with commercials that begin airing nationally July 1st. Check out the track Ghost.
