The Story: This rock band has played shows all over Michigan with bands including Hawthorne Heights. The YouTube cover of of Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” is approaching 200,000 plays. The latest release in July 2011 was the first single from their first full length album titled
“The City of Lost Hope”.

The Story: This pop band from New Jersey draws influences from Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars and performs regularly at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. They will self release a full length which was produced by Jake Antelis.

The Story: Scotty typically performs at various live-music venues and resorts in Ontario Canada. Most recently, he shared the stage with Sublime with Rome, Tokyo Police Club, and opened up for He Is We and Andrew Allen in Toronto. The EP Album ‘CRAZY’ is Scotty James’s debut release and two of the tracks got major radio rotation in Canada. For fans of John Mayer, Train, etc.

Record deals come in all shapes and sizes, depending on the genre of music. Generally, record deals have become smaller due to illegal downloading, piracy, etc. Regardless, pop music is still an expensive business, especially with the cost of making a record and marketing to an audience. The above chart shows a breakdown of costs thanks to DMN. In summary, it costs approximately $1 million to break a new pop artist and roughly $4,650,000 is spent making and promoting a superstar album.
