Only in 2022 would an album of bird sounds jump ahead Taylor Swift on a top 50 chart. How long it will stay there? Not long, but it’s a good headline that will give ‘eyes’ on the album and deserving so.

The album titled Songs Of Disappearance chronicles the calls from endangered Australian birds and reached the Top Five ARIA album charts, selling more than 3,000 copies. It briefly reached No. 3 on the country’s top 50 albums chart.

Anthony Albrecht helmed the album with his arts organization, the Bowerbird Collective. He’s a musician and a Ph.D. candidate at Charles Darwin University.

“It’s absolutely incredible to have knocked Michael Buble, Mariah Carey and a whole bunch of other really famous artists out of the [top five],” he said.

“In some ways, it’s not surprising, because I believe Australians generally are so much more attuned now to the environmental crisis that we’re all facing — and that the unique and incredible species that also call Australia home are facing.”

Taylor Swift has shaken up the music industry with the Rerecording of her 2012 album Red. After Scooter Braun bought her master recordings, Swift made a promise to rerecord her hit albums in attempt to “stick it” to her betrayers. People never actually thought she would follow through with the effort. There was hope that this would all pass over.

In fact her rerecorded songs are streaming more than her originals. Now, Universal is revising it’s recording deals that prevent artists from rerecording their music.

Although music labels owning the masters always caused strife among artists, Swift made the topic current again. The music label takes 80% of the streaming revenue under recording agreements whereas the indie artist walks away with 90% of the revenue.

Vengeance is mine saith Taylor Swift.

The former country singer broke the news that she re-recorded her 2008 album Fearless and will release the first single, “Love Story”
Swift said she would re-record the albums after her former music label Big Machine’s sold her masters to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings. Swift has an ongoing beef with Scooter Braun and made it well known through interviews and press releases.
Swift will re-record all six albums hoping the new album will overshadow old ones, hence sticking it to the investors.

While artists were holding back releasing albums until touring could resume, that seems to be no longer the case. With no end sight of the pandemic, artists have no choice but to release albums. Taylor Swift just dropped another surprise album Evermore. It’s an extension of her previous release Folkore. Like her last album, Evermore had no promotion. But what is promotion nowadays if you can’t tour?

It’s a far cry when Taylor partnered with UPS and had delivery vans drive through the streets of New York, Atlanta and Nashville plastered with posters advertising her new album. She spent months promoting 1989 prior to the release doing multiple interviews, performances and discussing her album on TV shows.
Tay has left a profound message to her Swifties, “I have no idea what will come next. I have no idea about a lot of things these days and so I’ve clung to the one thing that keeps me connected to you all. That thing always has and always will be music. And may it continue, evermore. My new album evermore is out now.
And may I leave with you this: I say truly, through tough times, music shall prevail and ’tis the ultimate connection ‘twixt thyself and the audience.

Taylor Swift never lets a good crisis goes to waste.

The indie folk singer was gifted an award for favorite pop/rock female and favorite music video for “Cardigan,” and while accepting her big win she said in a pre-recorded video.

“The reason I’m not there tonight is I’m actually recording all of my old music in the studio where we originally recorded it,” Swift said via tape. “So it’s been amazing and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
After a year from the purchase, Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun sold Taylor Swift’s master rights for the first six albums.
Swift learned that “under their terms Scooter Braun will continue to profit off my old musical catalog for many years.” She added, “I was hopeful and open to the possibility of a partnership with Shamrock, but Scooter’s participation is a non-starter for me.”
