Australian singer-songwriter Evie Irie released the new track Worst Enemy. It reminds of an ‘updated’ Lorde. The track was produced by Greg Kurstin, who has worked with Adele, Sia, Paul McCartney. Her 2019 EP 5 weeks in LA was literally written in 5 weeks and of course a much different LA than it is now. Within that time the 16 year old secured a lawyer, management, a record deal, an agent, a publisher. Give the track a stream.
Lauren Daigle weighs on the current state of affairs in a near hour instagram post. She goes on to say the issue is the heart of man not caring about one another. Looking beyond color and seeing the soul. “There are ways to use anger for good, and ways to use anger for evil. Seeing what happened to George Floyd should illicit anger.”
She is fully for protesting but condemns the burning down of buildings. “It doesn’t serve a purpose. It goes against loving your neighbor as yourself. She warns of falling into the same trap of using force as a monster or rights as a monster.”
I really like the new track Glam by Jen Kalicharan. Think chill vibes meets R&B. The singer songwriter, from Vancouver has a couple of track on Spotify. The track “Pretty Girl” caught some wind on TikTok and had nice spread. It fits perfectly on our indie invaders playlist. Give it a listen.
Lady Gaga dropped her new album Chromatica today. Ironically, she made a dance album, but the clubs are closed. But you can dance in your room with a mask and gloves. Seriously, I read all the online reviews of the album and they are pretty much same that the album is filled with terrific 90’s dance songs. The new album won’t change the face of pop music, but they will keep her fans satisfied. Why should Gaga try to re-invent itself her this time? She did it several times successfully. If she did it again, it may fail and should could risk her career falling off a cliff. At this point in her career, it’s better to say safe, stick with the endorsements, play some shows, and ride it all the way into the sunset.
The atmosphere has become increasingly poisonous. Right vs left, stay home vs reopen, mask or no mask..to many wars to count. Just look at the pushback Lana Del Rey received over her Instagram post. People are looking for a fight. I’m afraid to say the sky is blue. Look, we need music that unites. The people in the USA are better than this. We’ve always been the beacon of light to the world and we must do everything in our power that the light doesn’t dim. We only hurt ourselves. I wish some of the influencers and artists stayed out of the media wars. Don’t be deceived, the ruling class just uses the artists for their purpose. It doesn’t benefit artists careers, it benefits the agenda pushers. People want a break. They want to escape. The world is fragile. We need to come together. A new wave of songs that inspire unity is what the world needs.
