Amazon continues to strong arm its way into the music business. Now, the tech giant is putting on a music festival that has Kacey Musgraves, Beck, Foo Fighters, Leon Bridges, Chvrches, Brandi Carlisle, and Jamie xx performing in the Las Vegas desert. The festival will take place on December 6th and 7th and will have a video arcade, games and activities along with a post-apocalyptic dodgeball stadium’ a ‘mega-sized ball pit with over 200,000 balls” and a light show with drones.
Kanye West has released a trailer for his IMAX film Jesus Is King. The minute-long video has a white space in the center of the Roden Crater while West’s Sunday Service choir plays. The trailer ends with the Bible verse Mark 1:15 which reads: “In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel’.” The film will be released on 10/25 and tickets are are on sale.
Brighton indie act Time For T releases the track Calling Back along with a video. The band released 3 EP’s while their debut LP ‘Hoping Something Anything’ landed on the UK Spotify Viral Charts receiving radioplay on BBC Radio. The band performed festivals including Green Man, NOS Alive, Super Bock Super Rock toured around Europe and some played shows in the USA. The band has attracted attention from blogs including Clash Mag, Ear Milk, and The Wild Honey Pie. Give it a stream.
Katy Perry just rolled another track titled “Harleys In Hawaii” as well as the video. She co-wrote the song with the in-demand Perry Charlie Puth as well as Johan Carlsson and Jacob Kasher. The video has Perry riding a Harley on a Hawaiian highway and singing karaoke at a tiki bar and playing along a shoreline. This is her third single release but the label hasn’t announced an official album – they are probably trying to find a place for her in the streaming era. The newest single is definitely the strongest compared to her previous releases – ‘Never Really Over’ and ‘Small Talk’.
LA based singer-songwriter Geneva White releases the slow jam Frame blending jazz, soul, and folk. The Florida native was the lead-woman for Kan Wakan and opened for Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood. She also sang back-up for Lorde, played piano for Mikey Mike, and has writing cuts with Jaira Burns, Austin Mahone, NoMBe, Josh Barry,and Low Steppa. Give it a stream.
