girl-friend

The sibling act Girl Friend are making noise with their latest upbeat-dancey single Hello Stranger. Beautifully stuck in an 80’s time warp, Girl Friend channels The Human League.

The Manchester electro new-wave act kicked off with their last EP that received praise from the likes of Clash, Line of Best Fit, and Nylon while landing on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Playlist.

The band has performed at The Great Escape, Live at Leeds, Evolfest, and Dot to Dot. This Girl Friend isn’t playing no games!

blonder

Blonder is buzzing with Lean. This comes to no surprise. There is something special about this track which was recorded with Kevin Augunuas (Cold War Kids) at the famous Fairfax Recording. Blonder stands out in the midst of the onslaught of indie acts.

Write-ups from Clash Mag, Pigeons and Planes, and Nylon has brought the new indie act to the forefront as well as adds to several Spotify Playlists including Indie Mix.

Behind Blonder is NYC’s mysterious singer-songwriter Constantine Anastasakis. A new EP is due out early 2017.

stephanieskye

Newcomer Stephanie Skye releases the new track Holding On To Heaven. Showing off her vocal prowess the indie songstress is a cross between Lana Del Rey, Halsey and Daya. I’ve been following Skye’s music journey for a while and she’s onto something here with the latest track.

She’s been building an online following with her quirky makeup videos. Skye notes, “I’m told that I’m awkward, introverted, and a little bit misunderstood.

She is currently working with a variety of producers. The latest track comes off her forthcoming EP.

patternist

Patternist impresses with Far From Now. It didn’t take long to hum the upbeat, dancey-vibey track. Based in Oregon, singer-songwriter Gabe Mouer is the music wizard behind the electro pop act.

Influenced by The 1975, Wild Cub, Phoenix, St.Lucia, Patternist has opened for NBC’s The Voice Juliet Simms, The Ataris, and Train.

The boy wonder is buzzing with song placements in Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and blog love from Pop Matters! and Baeble Music. Look out for the upcoming EP Give It Up.

the-catching

A childhood buddy of mine called me from his Wall Street office asking “Have you ever heard of The Catching from NJ? My 10 year old son saw them live and really likes the band”.

After a quick search, I found the 4 piece pop act which wasn’t hard to find. I was hooked after a first listen. The latest single Ready Set Go is straight-up pop rock. The Catching was added to Nick Music and are #1 on YouNow. They have two videos floating around the net directed by Marc Klasfeld (Twenty One Pilots, Katy Perry) and are completely booked with shows this month via High School Nation Tour. From Rumson, NJ arose Charlie Puth — are these boys be next?
