Indie pop singer-songwriter Boh Doran released a new video for the track Electric Love. Influenced by the classic soul and rock writers of the 60s and 70s and laced with a blend of retro groove and modern indie pop production, Boh explores the deeper and sometimes darker side of the human heart. The collaboration with producer-writers Ethan Mentzer (The Click 5) and Jon Kaplan (New Politics, Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World) is set for an early 2015 release. She has a residency at Ham and Eggs in LA and has received praise from Radar Online, Glamour Magazine, Blackbook Magazine, Huffington Post, Knox Road Blog among others. Boh Doran is an artist to watch.

UK act Girl Friend has released a new song that will come off their new EP followed by a tour. The track ‘STOP’ and the video picked up early responses from blogs like The 405 and Ear Milk. Described as ‘honing in on the particulars of passion and desire’ by DIY Magazine, Girl Friends’s unique take on classic and refined pop has seen them pick up plays on XFM, heavy rotation across Amazing Radio, and touring on European dates with the Kooks. The Guardian says “We are moved to controversially suggest that, in the pantheon of Manchester debut singles, it is in the ballpark of The Stone Roses’ So Young and Happy Mondays’ Delightful and within kissing distance of Hurts’ Better Than Love.”

Many fans know you from your time spent as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice. How did the audition come about?
Well I had just moved to Los Angeles and was living in Studio City. The auditions were in Burbank, only 10 minutes away, and I thought, why not?!
Tell me about your experience with The Voice. What did you learn?
Honestly the most valuable take away for me was to learn to listen and trust my own inner voice, and that I always have a choice. If something doesn’t feel quite right, I have the ability to speak up and make sure that I’m able to express myself in away that feels true to myself, my sound and my message. Being on stage of that magnitude and seen by so many people over night, you learn very quickly that a moment like is like no other, and you need to make sure people get to see who you truly are and what you’re about. As artists we have an opportunity to change people’s lives and the world with a single song, it’s an incredible responsibility and blessing. I’m grateful to have learned that so early on in my career. CONTINUE READING
