Ariana Grande was the highest paid female musician in 2020 according to Forbes which isn’t bad for a girl that started her career in musical theatre. Ariana was eager to start a career in music and began posting covers on YouTube. She had powerful voice that caught the attention of execs, the word got out and Republic signed the singer in the early stages of her career in 2010. The 27 year old singer went to release 5 albums and has become one of the hottest pop stars. Grande also has stayed out of any major controversy. Success and hard work runs in the Grande family. Her mother, Joan Grande is the CEO of Hose-McCann Communications. Forbes has Ariana raking in 72 million.
I’m really liking Lucky by Beattie. The 21 year old artist from West London carries the song with just a vocal and a piano which isn’t easy to do. Musically, she isn’t too far from Lana Del Rey.
Beattie says, “Lucky, for me, was the reflection during the aftermath of a relationship with someone. That sudden feeling of being alone, acknowledging that you’re better off without someone but knowing you still would find the time for them despite it all.”
The track was added to Spotify’s Fresh playlist finds and KOAR’s Indie Invaders.
I stumbled across the track Lost by Helena Mayer from Cali. It’s worth checkin out. Think Benee meets Billie Eilish. The track landed on several personal chill wave playlists. She released the song in March but it has as much meaning now because everyone is still Lost. The 21 year old is convicted to write music that makes the world better. Give it a stream in KOAR’s Indie Invaders playlist.
I love movements. I love activism. I love BLM. I love the Animal rights movement, I love the Feminist movement, I love Health freedom movement, I love the Counterculture movement, and I love the Earth First! movement. What I don’t like is bad people hijacking movements. It’s terrible because it undermines the movement and the cause.
What’s the point of defacing Elvis Presley’s Graceland? Absolutely nothing. I really do believe that most people are good but it’s a few that create havoc.
Fans of Elvis were outraged to see the landmark defaced and I can see why.
Bill Stanley, Elvis’ stepbrother said:‘This is totally uncalled for,’ said Stanley. ‘One of the saddest days of my life. I mean, besides the day that Elvis passed away, this right here is right up next to it.’
Kaash Paige just released her debut album Teenage Fever via Def Jam which landed #1 on Apple Music’s R&B album charts. The 19 year old Dallas based singer-songwriter appeared on the track “Euphoria” with Don Toliver and Travis Scott after building a following on SoundCloud. I was surprised when I went through the 13 song album – it’s deep, introspective and unique, kind of like Erykah Badu, Isaiah Rashad, or SZA. Everything about Kaash reeks vibe, including her name which is an acronym for Kill All Arrogance Stop Hatred. Check out the album and start at the beginning.
