Buzz Track: Fifty Five Fires

Imperial Mammoth has become a Kings favorite, plus, this indie pop duo brings a solid story. The new album Gold Confetti was produced by Nate Pyfer, Ryan Petersen & Imperial Mammoth and mixed by Mark Needham (Walk The Moon, the Killers, Imagine Dragons). Their debut single “Requiem On Water” was on the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 Soundtrack. The Twilight placement helped catapult the band finding music placements in Grey’s Anatomy, The Fosters, Switched At Birth, Drop Dead Diva, and Parenthood among others. Check them out on June 24th in LA at The Bootleg. This is a band to watch.

Hospitalband

Buzz Track: Revelation

We’ve grown to like Hospital, an indie Russia band who opened up for Lana Del Ray in Moscow. They have also opened up for The Neighbourhood in Moscow as well as St. Petersburg. Their latest single was produced by Jim Greer (Foster The People, Head Automatica). The song “Falling” became top 3 song searched on Russian Shazam after it airing on Russian sitcom “Univer”. The band will perform two shows at NXNE Festival in June.

Rap

via Showbiz 411

What happened to rap? It’s off the charts with two minor exceptions: a sluggish new album from 50 Cent, and an oldish album at the bottom of the charts by SchoolBoyQ.

What’s in? Pop, Pop R&B, white kids, black kids who sound white. Led Zeppelin reisssued its first three albums from 196-1972. They are all in the new top 40 albums and sold a total more than 60,000 copies total. Yikes.

Is rock back? Heavy rock too?

Not selling: Mariah Carey’s “Me I Am Mariah” and Michael Jackson’s “Xscape.” The latter at least had a couple of good weeks. Mariah’s CD, with great reviews and terrific tracks, has gone nowhere.

Country albums take four of the top 10 spots this week: Miranda Lambert is number 1, followed by Brantley Gilbert and Lucy Hale. A country compilation, “Now Country 7,” is also in the top 10. CONTINUE READING
