Bite the Buffalo just released a studio album ‘Bad Habits‘. After listening to the full album the track Deez Zees really stood out. Drawing influences from the seventies rock, the duo attracted Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant who invited them to support him at his Manchester Apollo show. They’ve opened for Fat White Family, Happy Mondays, The Growlers and Skindred performed the the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury. Give it a listen!
Kings favorite Young Optimist releases a new single Halos. Like their previous track Voice, it is cleverly produced and has a great melody. The band tells Kings, “Halos will probably have a different meaning for everyone and it should be subjective.” It’ tough to pin the sound of the band down, but they would fit nicely with The Black Keys and Weezer. Consequently, they’re writing better songs than most of their peers.

Three piece pop act Public releases a fantastic tune called Honest. The haunting pop track which is reminiscent of Echosmith’s Cool Kid was mixed by Paul David Hagar (Miley Cyrus, Beck) and mastered by Emily Lazar (Sia, Foo Fighters). The band tells Kings, “This song is about struggling to come to terms with the realization that something that’s been craved for so long is now completely out of reach. The driving pressure of the bass-line and hi-hat, the dark, foreboding slide guitar, the haunting vocal melodies tinged with jealousy – all make up one last, desperate effort to bring back what’s already gone.” While the track 4Her which came off their 2017 EP recently clocked over a million Spotify streams, the band will head out on tour with The Driver Era fronted by popular actor and musician Ross Lynch.
Look out for the new track Bliss dropped by Liverpool act SPINN. I love it! The band tells Kings, “Bliss does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s just over three minutes of absolute dream pop”. It appears the up and coming indie act are onto something. The made Spotify’s Hot New Bands, while BBC Radio 1 is a big supporter, and they have a packed touring schedule. The latest track comes off their debut album due out in May. Give it a listen.
I’m liking Albert Kass who just released the track The Void. It’s raw, it’s haunting, syncable, and very melodious. Kass tells Kings, “Sometimes it can take years before an idea for a song takes shape, and feels complete. The Void started out as a guitar riff that I found compelling. I would play it endlessly, while struggling to find a vocal melody that complemented it. It’s not something that can be forced but rather must come forth naturally from the void of consciousness. To me, this song is about letting things come to pass in their own time and confronting denial.
