Nashville based Dara releases the track Why Do I Only Think Of You? It has a nineties indie vibe and it gets catchier and catchier after a couple of listens. It’s the third release off her forthcoming EP! and is the follow-up to my personal favorite “Don’t Wanna Cry“. Before moving to Nashville, the 22 year old spent some time crafting her sound working with music producer Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton). Her latest tracks are a bit of a departure of her earlier work in that she re-discovered artist like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and David Bowie. Maybe she is still finding her sound, but she has a great voice. Give it a stream.

Gatsby releases two new tracks Twisted and Lonely. Combining the popular sounds of today, both sound like top 40 charting songs. While writing for an array of artists he definitely has a knack for songwriting. He cites Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West as influences. His debut single Brooklyn which was released in the fall of 2018 has nearly 100k Spotify streams. With his latest track Lonely, Gatsby tells Kings, “I think that feeling of loneliness can creep in for everyone. Whether you’re someone who’s young and trying to figure out life, or if you’ve been happily married for 30 years, there are just moments when it creeps in. We all want to be known. For me, the first line of the chorus is just that vulnerable moment when you’re wanting someone to tell you that they feel it too.” Give it a stream.

Look out for Monique who goes under the moniker of ZINN. She just released the track Rise Above. Citing Bebe Rexha, Halsey, and Jessie Reyez as influences her latest track is impressive considering it’s her debut track. ZINN tells Kings that she will roll out three more tracks in the coming months before releasing the self titled EP. With the latest track ZINN also tells Kings, “I want people to rise above the differences. Understand the fact we are different people and have different opinions yet we are in the same place”. She continues, “We have so much energy we put into the world and we waste it on anger”.

Dani Sylvia drops the soulful electric pop track Shadows on the Sun. She’s been praised by BBC Introducing and supported ‘Haley Reinhart’ at The o2 Academy Islington and ‘The Feeling’ on their UK tour. Dani tells Kings, “This song is about the pain of being the only one who is broken-hearted by the ending of a relationship. It’s about saying “I wish you were hurting as much as I am right now so that we could share the weight of this heartbreak! But you don’t care.. and that sucks.” For me when I wrote this song I was trying to capture that kind of horrible shame that comes with knowing that you are not a loss to someone and that they aren’t grieving you. It can make you feel unimportant. The phrase ‘Shadows on the Sun’ to me explores that feeling of total chaos, confusion and that the world is upside down and warped”. Check it out.
