Kings favorite Em Rossi releases a new single “No Longer The Same” with the Smule app that has 60 million users world wide. The single was also featured on Bay Area ABC7 news. The 20 year old singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles has been rolling out beautifully sad songs that has garnered millions of YouTube streams. Much of her inspiration comes from losing a parent at an early age. Em notes, “Everyone deals with death in different ways. I’ve watched family, friends, and myself go through it and it’s safe to say I’ve seen it all. It’s definitely a harsh reality check. It’s honestly indescribable. Only those who have gone through the same thing could even begin to understand the shock and sadness”. It’s rare when an artist truly expresses their emotions through music. Demi Lovato did it with ‘Sober’ and Em does it with her latest track No Longer The Same. Like any true artist, Em isn’t looking for fame. “Music became my core and no matter what happens or where it takes me, I am proud to say that I nor my family chose to close the doors and hide from the world” says Em. Check out the self proclaimed emo boy-band MILKK. The band released two EP’s with tracks landing on Spotify’s Indie Shuffle and Fresh Finds. The latest track Leaving landed on Spotify’s Indie Pop Chillout Playlist. For a brand new band, they have gotten a foothold in the scene rather quickly. The songs are good and its resonating in the indie pop world. Lead vocalist Pat Kiloran notes, “There is an audience for every artist, it’s just finding them and how to find them. We knew almost immediately the age range and demographic of our audience, which is why we took it to Twitter and took it directly to the fans. It’s proven time and time again that if you know your audience you can take it directly to them and don’t have to shell out tons of money”. It’s a challenge for any artist to find their audience, but I think these Nashville natives may have.

Kings favorite Dustin Paul releases the fun song Lucky Day. The ukulele laced track took on a life of its own. Dustin who wrote the song with other songwriters was going to release it as a single until a publishing company decided to pitch the song to other artists. Dustin notes, “It was really hard for me to give up the song in that moment because it was supposed to be our single, but we didn’t want to turn down a good opportunity”. The track eventually made its way to a 5 piece alternative act on a major label and landed on several commercials. Of course the band fizzled out. I think the goal was to replicate the success of American Authors MEGAHIT ‘Best Day Of My Life‘, but lightning never strikes at the same place. Now, Dustin reclaimed the song. “I am biased, but honestly I never really felt their version had the same soul to it that ours did. It’s been a long time coming to release the original version, and I’m excited that just has finally happened”. Give the track a stream.

Swedish pop duo Hearts & Colors releases the catchy pop track Waterbed along with a video. The new track follows the double release of ‘Lying To Myself‘ and ‘Too Many Friends’ out on Island Records. Although the band is releasing music through a major, they have yet to become a household name. This could change though. The duo built a following on YouTube posting cover songs of popular artist like One Direction, Justin Bieber & Bruno Mars.
