Check out the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Nola Wren. She released an EP Scream Into The Void, Pt. 1. that’s full of dark haunting electro pop songs. This is an EP that needs to be listened in its entirety for it to make sense. It doesn’t have a particular song that jumps out, whether that’s good or bad – I don’t know. The tracks were written during a chaotic time in her life. Nola tells Kings that she wrote songs in buses, coffee shops, libraries, my parent’s living room, my (now-ex) boyfriend’s bedroom floor. Primarily using Ableton Live and Logic Pro to craft her sound – she discovered electronic music and production in her college years. Give it a stream.

Swedish electro pop singer Emma-Lee Andersson who goes by the moniker Bellhouse drops two new tracks – Coping and Like You Loved Us. Both are really good tunes. Musically, think Ellie Goulding upgraded. Having played in punk bands, Bellhouse notes, “My taste in music has gone from pop to metal to punk to dancehall and back to pop again plus everywhere in between, and a lot of it still sticks with me.” With the track Like You Loves Us, she says “I wanted to make a great pop-song for a big crowd about a situation everyone will recognize.” She’s flying under the radar right now but she could be spotted in 2019. Check it out.

Look out for the Tuscon act The Sometimes. Think Foster The People and Phoenix. The trio consists of a couple of dudes who are just having fun. It’s working for them. Check out the track All This Time as well as the video which was recorded live in the living room. The band tells Kings, “All This Time’ is one of the first songs we wrote. We wrote and recorded the majority of it while visiting home in Seattle, holed up in our makeshift bedroom studio. It’s a song about feeling frustrated and ‘stuck’, but still enjoying yourself along the way.” Give it a listen!

Look out for Sky Keller and her new single Bad. The latest release is a bit darker from her previous releases, but it’s my favorite. The Connecticut native, now based in LA, debuted with the track “Don’t Get It” that received some fanfare. Give it a stream.

The rock genre needs more sexy-sensual female rockers. It seems the pop world has them all. But add Kelsy Karter to the mix. She just released the uptemto rocker Catch My If You Can. In fact, before finding her rock roots the New Zealand/ LA based singer was releasing pop songs. “I just realized I didn’t want to live in the pop world,” Kelsy says. “I want to be a rockstar, and I think we need more female rock stars so I’m happy to fill that lane.” She started collaborating with Cage The Elephant, Alex Da Kid, and Micky James. I personally like the direction and Kelsy found her niche. Check out the video for the latest single.
