NYC based three piece VHS Collection released the 80’s fused upbeat track Searching For The Light. What’s with the 80’s inspired music this year? From Dua Lipa to The Weeknd. I love the 80’s sound but there couldn’t been a worse year to resurrect the 80’s, but we got it anyway. A flurry of new songs that capture multi-layered synthesizers and the punchy electronic drum sounds. VHS collection will add another solid song to your 80’s inspired playlist. Enjoy while it lasts. I’m betting the 60’s are coming back. Check it out on our KOAR’s indie invaders playlist.

Anyone hear of Zoe Wees and the track Control? She is based in Germany and the latest track was written about her battle with epilepsy. She has a pretty amazing voice, she conveys her feelings in her voice, and a unique vocal nevertheless. Since its release in March, the song has charted on Spotify’s Viral 50 in dozens of countries. In fact, Zoe was picked to represent Germany in Spotify’s global emerging artist program, RADAR, a program that helps artists broaden their fan bases via playlists and other initiatives. Let’s get this amazing artist outta Germany and here in America.

London Electropop Zoe Wakelam dropped her third single ‘Self-Talk‘. Like her previous singles, it’s raw, honest and a bit experimental – but very listenable. The Aussie born singer songwriter who now lives in the UK draws inspiration from FINNEAS, twenty øne piløts, half•alive, Wallows and Billie Eilish. Zoe notes the song was written in early in 2020, after a time of life decisions, change, doubt, and anxiety. ‘Lately I’ve been a mess, and it’s kinda hard to confess’, is the first line. Give it a stream.

UK’s Becky Hill released her new single and videoSpace”. The track comes off her debut studio album out on March 19, 2021. She definitely has that big powerhouse vocal which you don’t hear too much today. It’s all about the Eilish whisper right now. The 26 year old made a name for herself after a good run on the UK’s Voice in 2012, but not a household name. TV’s talent shows don’t produce stars but she started writing songs for other artists and had her in hand in many dance floor fillers.
She signed to Polydor in 2017 and scored her first hit single ‘Better Off Without You’. I like Becky because she’s isn’t about being the queen of social media. It’s all about performance and the vocal.

“I enjoy writing music, I enjoy performing, but I’ve always felt like it’s quite a nasty environment – social media, generally.” says Becky.
And Becky admitted, “Yeah, no I can’t do TikTok challenges!”
“And if I had it my way, I would never look at TikTok. It would never be invented! But here we are.”

Universal Music is getting into the hotel business. It will build its first three hotels under the UMUSIC brand. One of those hotels will transform the old Broadwater Resort into a $1.2 billion spot.
Having a portfolio that includes Abbey Road Studios, Capitol Records and Def Jam Recordings, the hotel business seems to be not in the wheelhouse, but not really I suppose. It’s called UMUSIC Hotel. Investors say the UMUSIC Broadwater Hotel in Biloxi will integrate a performance venue and a luxury hotel with an architecture style. Biloxi, Atlanta and Orlando are the first three cities where UMUSIC Hotels will be developed.
Robert Lavia the chairman at Dakia U-Ventures LLC. “Every destination holds a great story just waiting to be told through its cultural heritage and its music,” said Lavia. “Through this new concept, we will both help people discover new ways to channel their love for music and the arts and help empower the transformation of communities worldwide through cultural, inspirational, creative and conscious collaboration. And we’re thrilled to work together with Universal Music Group who shares our vision and passion about the powerful role of culture and music for each community we touch.”
